Arrive at Denpasar
Met at the airport and driven the ninety minutes up to Ubud. Nothing planned beyond dinner and an early night.

Day 2
Ubud, on foot
The Campuhan ridge walk before the heat, the palace and market after, and the Monkey Forest late in the day when it thins out.

Day 3
Batur at sunrise
Collected at two, on the crater rim by six, and back at the hotel by eleven for the rest of the day in the pool. Not negotiable on the early start.

Day 4
Terraces and lake temples
North through Jatiluwih's rice valley, Ulun Danu Beratan sitting out on the lake, and the twin lakes viewpoint on the way back down.

Day 5
East to Sidemen
Two hours across to a valley of rice and palm with Agung at the head of it. Rooms open onto the terraces; a village walk fills the afternoon.

Day 6
Tirta Gangga and the water palaces
The royal bathing pools at Tirta Gangga in the morning, Taman Ujung after, then Lempuyangan's steps if the legs are willing.

Day 7
Down to the coast
Tulamben on the way for the Liberty wreck — snorkellers see the bow at five metres — then on to Sanur for two nights on the calm side.

Day 8
Nusa Penida, or nothing
A fast boat across for Kelingking and Broken Beach, or a day on the Sanur boardwalk with a bicycle. Both are good answers.

Fly home
Twenty minutes to the airport from Sanur, so the morning stays yours.
