    Arrive in Vancouver

    In on the direct flight and driven downtown, with an evening walk along the Coal Harbour seawall to shake the flight off.

    Vancouver and Stanley Park

    The park by bicycle round the seawall, the Museum of Anthropology's Haida and Kwakwaka'wakw poles, and Granville Island market.

    Aboard the Rocky Mountaineer

    Out through the Fraser valley and up the canyon to Hell's Gate, under a glass dome, with lunch served at your seat, into Kamloops.

    Into the Rockies

    The second day: the Monashee and Selkirk ranges, Craigellachie where the last spike went in, and the Continental Divide into Banff.

    Banff and the Bow valley

    The Sulphur Mountain gondola, the Vermilion lakes, Bow falls and the Hoodoos, with a soak at the upper hot springs at the end.

    Moraine and Lake Louise

    The first shuttle to Moraine at six, then Louise and the teahouse walk up to Lake Agnes, and Yoho's Emerald Lake in the afternoon.

    The Icefields Parkway

    232 km north past Bow Lake, Peyto's wolf-head shape from the ridge, and the Weeping Wall, with a stop at the Athabasca falls.

    The Columbia Icefield

    Out onto the Athabasca glacier in an ice explorer, the Skywalk's glass floor over the Sunwapta valley, and Maligne canyon on the way back.

    Maligne Lake

    The boat down to Spirit Island, a wildlife drive at dusk for elk and black bear, and the dark-sky preserve after it.

    Past Mount Robson, the highest in the Canadian Rockies, to Kamloops, then the flight down to Vancouver for the night.
