Day 1
Arrive in Calgary
Met and driven west to Canmore, gear checked, and the fortnight's route and bear protocol talked through.

Day 2
Kananaskis via ferrata
A cabled route on Mount Yamnuska's limestone with a guide, which is the right first day for heads and hands both.

Day 3
Ha Ling and the Bow
Up Ha Ling Peak for 800 m of ascent before lunch, then a canoe on the Bow to loosen the legs off in the afternoon.

The Plain of Six Glaciers
Lake Louise to the teahouse and up onto the moraine below Victoria and Lefroy, with the Abbot Pass hut visible above.

Glacier skills on the Athabasca
North up the parkway for a full day of roped travel, crampon work and crevasse rescue with a mountain guide.

West to Mount Robson
Over the Yellowhead to the trailhead, permits collected, food hung, and packs weighed for the three days ahead.

Day 7
Berg Lake trail, day one
Up the Robson valley past Kinney Lake and the Valley of a Thousand Falls, camping at Whitehorn below the headwall.

Day 8
To Berg Lake
The headwall's 500 m past Emperor and White falls to a lake with icebergs in it, under Robson's 3,954 m north face.

Day 9
Snowbird Pass, and down
A side trip up to the pass at 2,420 m over the Robson glacier if the weather holds, then the long descent to the trailhead.

South to Golden
A rest day on the road, with the Kicking Horse gondola in the afternoon and the grizzly refuge at the top of it.

The Kicking Horse
The upper and lower canyons in one run: grade IV through Portage and Shotgun, in water straight off the icefields.

The drive back over the Rogers Pass to Calgary and the connection via Vancouver or Frankfurt.
